Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt Vancouver Review [First Look]

Menchie’s, the popular self-serve frozen yogurt chain, was founded in California back in 2007, and has since exploded in popularity with over 150 locations in the US and Canada. Menchie’s 10th Canadian location has landed on Cambie Street in Vancouver between West 7th and 8th (the second BC location is in Surrey). Tomorrow, Menchie’s in Vancouver will be giving away free frozen yogurt to celebrate its grand opening. Here’s a first look at what you’ll experience when you get there:

Hollywood loves Menchie’s and store has a wall dedicated to photos of celebrities enjoying their frozen yogurt.

Located beside the Running Room on Cambie Street, the location itself is roomy inside with tall ceilings. The premise here is a self-serveĀ  frozen yogurt setup. In the mantra of Menchie’s, you “mix, weigh and pay”. There are a variety of flavours to choose from, and tiny Dixie cups are available so you can sample flavours. Bonus.

Passport holds “my smileage card”. The card grants exclusive rewards and offers like a special treat on your birthday. Spend $1 to earn 1 “smile” point, and every 50 smiles adds $5 to your registered my smileage account. Receive 25 free smiles for registering at menchies.com.

Cups come in one size and you basically fill up with your preferred flavoured of froyo (12 to choose from such as red velvet, pina colada, vanilla, chocolate, original, etc. – and 6 swirl combinations), add toppings (50+) such as candy, cookies, cereals, chocolate bar pieces, nuts, fresh fruit, mochi, syrups, then pay. We decided to go with the original tart flavour to see how it’d compare to Red Mango and Pinkberry and loaded up with toppings. It’s easy to have a heavy hand, but remember you’re charged by weight. At $1.90 per 100 grams, our froyo cups cost approximately $7.00 plus tax for the two.

The Vancouver Menchie’s location will hold its grand opening this weekend, February 18 & 19–free frozen yogurt for all from 12pm until 5pm! Festivities for the whole family include gift bags for children, photos with Menchie the mascot, colour-in t-shirts, and face painting!
