We discovered La Gourmande Confections at Baker’s Market Vancouver and enjoyed Julie’s sweet n’ salty caramels: Fleur De Sel Caramels ($3.00 per pack of three) - When caramel is done right, there’s really nothing better, especially when combined with artisan fleur de sel. [Fleur de sel, or “flower of salt” in French, is a hand-harvested moist sea salt, traditionally collected off the coast of Brittany.] These are perfectly soft and chewy caramels with just enough saltiness to bring out the complex flavors of butter, cream and sugar. Her Cocoa Mashmallows ($2.00 per pack of two), are delightfully pillowy-soft marshmallows, flavoured with rich dark chocolate.
