The Regal Beagle Neighborhood Bar & Grill in Kitsilano (Broadway & Vine), has been recently renovated and newly menued. It’s a cozy pub with great atmosphere. I dig the pics of musicians on the walls – doesn’t Bob Marley make everyone happy?!
I met a friend from Victoria there last Thursday night for dinner, drinks and good chatter.
The pub offers daily specials, Thursdays being their “Surf ‘n Turf ” day for $13. My friend ordered this dish because we thought the description sounded delicious: lamb sausage, ravioli, steak, and prawns. Expecting a mound of food, we were pleasantly surprised to see just the right amount on the plate. She thought the ravioli was the best part of her dish.
Feeling like lots of protein, I ordered their “Basic Sliders: 3 home-made mini burgers” for $11.00. They come with tomato, cheese, pickles and special sauce. Although they looked scrumptious, unfortunately the burgers were a tad dry. The yam fries, on the other hand, were delicious.
I actually really enjoyed their wine. I ordered a couple of glasses of the Santa Rita Syrah ($6.50/glass). I hadn’t had this particular Shiraz before, but would definitely order it again. My friend also ordered few Okanagan Spring 1516 ($5.75) draft beers and was very happy, of course.
It happened to be our server’s first day at the Beagle, but she was excellent. Also, the manager was equally attentive, filling up our waters and bringing our bill.
Overall, I would say they offer affordable prices, an excellent location, good music and they’ll always be playing a hockey game on TV:)
