Cafe Gloucester Review #2

We previously reviewed Cafe Gloucester earlier this year for lunch. We were in the neighborhood of South Cambie, so we decided to try the Hong Kong Style cafe’s dinner menu.

Cafe Gloucester’s extensive menu made it difficult to choose a dish! Luckily we arrived before 6:00pm, so we were able to order off their “Tea” menu which includes a hot drink, or an extra 50 cents if you want a cold beverage.

I decided on fried rice with a coke because I had a hankering for the fried fluffy white stuff. The dish was incredibly flavorful and the salted fish gave a nice pungent and savory kick. I would certainly order this fried rice again.

Chicken & Salted Fish Fried Rice

Gary ordered Laksa with chicken and a cold iced-tea. I really didn’t like the taste of his Laksa. It was definitely the worst I’ve ever had, and I’ve had A LOT in Vancouver and during my travels.

You can read about one laksa I really enjoyed at Bo Laksa King here. This particular laksa at Cafe Gloucester had a bizarre floral/dishwater flavour –  the best I can describe it! They do list other laksas on their menu, so perhaps those taste better.

Leave a comment below if you’ve tried a laksa that you enjoyed at Cafe Gloucester. I’d like to hear what you think!
