Our favourite local pizza joint, Napoletana Pizza, still hasn’t reopened since a fire ravaged the restaurant. So, we’ve been on the lookout for a comparable pizza parlour for replacement and checked out Double DD Pizza for dinner last week.
Located on West 4th Avenue and Collingwood Street, Double DD Pizza has been serving its Kitsilano neighbourhood since 1989. Family owned and operated, its menu offers over thirty different pizza topping combinations as well as fresh salads and submarine sandwiches. Italian dishes such as lasagna and baked spaghetti are also highlighted alongside Greek favourites like chicken souvlaki and kalamari.
Staff were very friendly and helpful on our visit to Double DD Pizza and it felt like a true neighbourhood pizza joint and Kits family style restaurant. We took advantage of their pick-up order discount and received 10% off our meal, but you could also dine inside Double DD Pizza’s cozy, casual dining room. Alternatively, fast free delivery is swiftly provided from 4pm to 10pm nightly with a minimum order of only seven dollars. FYI: Delivery stops thirty minutes before closing.
Everything On It (Small/10 inches/$11.95 ~ Medium/12 inches/$15.45 ~ Large/14 inches/$19.45) – As its name eludes, this massive pizza did indeed include everything on it: peperoni, mushrooms, ham, salami, lean beef, onions, green peppers, black olives, and pineapples on Double DD Pizza’s own special dough, tomato sauce and topped with freshly grated mozzarella cheese. It had a thick crust and was absolutely loaded with ingredients; the most meat and veggies we’ve ever eaten on a pizza! If you appreciate pizza with tonnes of toppings and local family run restaurants with friendly service, then you might want to check out Double DD Pizza in Kitsilano.
