Krispy Kreme Review (Mesa, Arizona)

If you’re craving doughnuts, then there’s no place that can satisfy quite as thoroughly as Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. Currently celebrating their 75th birthday, Krispy Kreme has been serving their delectable treats since 1937.

Located on Superstition Springs Boulevard in Mesa, Arizona, this stand-alone shop and drive-thru is superb. Friendly staff and always fresh doughnuts in a multitude of flavors is what you can expect from this location.

We’d never tried their coffee before, but had heard Krispy Kreme brews a great cup o’ joe. You can chose from their Signature House Blend or Dark Roast as well as a variety of espresso beverages. We opted for the Signature House Blend 12 ounce coffee – A smooth, medium-bodied, Latin American blend with a balanced flavor profile suitable for the everyday coffee drinker.

Since it was 40 degrees (100 Fahrenheit) outside we opted for a cold beverage as well and ordered a Frozen Lemonade Chiller – A refreshing thirst-quencher made with real lemons, sweetened with only cane sugar, and prepared icy cold.

We usually like to keep it simple an order their world-famous Original Glazed because you just can’t mess with tradition. And Krispy Kreme’s Original Glazed doughnuts are melt-in-your-mouth bites of pure joy.

But on this occasion, we asked them to give us a “surprise doughnut”, so they threw in one of the two strawberry doughnut features out of their special “fruit stand flavor”: Strawberry KREME Pie (only available until May 20th), filled with strawberry and signature KREME filling, all topped with white icing and graham cracker crumbles – a decadent indulgence!
