Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Review (Burlington, WA)

To take advantage of our NEXUS pass, we did some shopping (and eating!) in Washington state this past long-weekend. On the way home, I checked out the Lululemon outlet in Burlington (near Bellingham). However, after having no luck at the outlet, we noticed a Krispy Kreme and headed straight in for what else – doughnuts!

This particular location on Haggen Drive & South Burlington Boulevard is a bright, large and spacious, stand-alone doughnut & coffee shop, complete with a drive-through. Is there anything you can’t get from a drive-through in the States?!

Most recently, we tried the Krispy Kreme location in Delta; it was ok, but not amazing. What is it about the majority of American fast food joints? They always seem to taste better in the US – Chipotle, Krispy Kreme, and Taco Bell are the ones that come to mind.

South Korea is another country where fast food chains taste superior! When we lived in Seoul, there was a Krispy Kreme in Myeongdong and whenever the red light was on, it meant that customers could order their warm original glazed doughnuts freshly-made, but it also meant that patrons could line up for a complimentary warm doughnut as well.

Like Dunkin Doughnuts, Krispy Kreme is popular for their doughnuts and coffee. They now have three unique signature coffee roasts, espresso drinks, chillers and other iced-beverages. Varieties like mini doughnuts, doughnut holes, caramel, sprinkles, crullers, ‘kreme’ filled, chocolate-dipped, various flavors of mini bundt cakes, fritters, and more are also available. However, I feel that Krispy Kreme’s original glazed doughnuts are their best items. We could have ordered two dozen doughnuts for $16, but instead opted for just twelve for $11. Our box of one dozen were still warm – delish!

If you’ve never had a Krispy Kreme, then you don’t know what you’re missing. They’re really light doughnuts – not heavy or cakey, nor are they greasy. I’d describe them as soft little doughnuts pillows that melt-in-your-mouth, and I would have agree with others, Krispy Kreme makes some of the world’s best glazed doughnuts!

FYI: Dozens are half price after 8pm at this location.
