You can find SoHo Cafe located on the corner of Broadway & Broome in New York City’s fabulous SoHo district. With the perfect central location, the cafe experiences tonnes of foot-traffic from throngs of locals and tourists shopping in the popular and very busy area.
We stopped by, feeling the need to refuel with a quick bite and drinks during our exploration of New York City. The cafe offers breakfast sandwiches and omelets, along with lunch items like burgers, hot dogs and paninis. They also serve baked goods, espresso beverages, and even smoothies. There aren’t a lot of tables available on the main level, but additional seating is provided downstairs.
New York cheesecake is pure, unadulterated cheesecake with no fancy ingredients added either to the cheesecake or placed on top of it. It is made with pure cream cheese, cream, eggs, and sugar. Everybody has a certain image of New York Style Cheesecake. But, according to New Yorkers, only the great cheesecake makers are located in New York, and the great cheesecake connoisseurs are also in NY. Arnold Reuben, owner of the legendary Turf Restaurant at 49th & Broadway, claimed to have developed the first cream cheese cake recipe all the way back in 1929!
Since you simply cannot leave Manhattan without eating NY cheesecake, we had our eye on their glorious-looking SoHo offering. We couldn’t resist the temptation to indulge in this divine dessert, so we ordered a slice. This New York-style cheesecake was creamy, smooth, rich, and dense, and most importantly absolutely delicious. This piece had no crust to compete with its decadent flavor. Purists will insist on devouring this cake unadorned, just like this scrumptious slice was served to us.
Great iced-coffee, for only a couple dollars, and wonderful New York cheesecake – what more could you ask for from SoHo Cafe!
