Similar in concept to Vancouver restaurants such as Romer’s Burger Bar and Stackhouse Burger Bar, Bin 4 Burger Lounge is a gourmet burger joint. The establishment specializes in local ingredients, fresh house-made sauces, and hormone free meat and poultry.
Since it first opened its doors last November, Bin 4 Burger Lounge has been the “talk of the town” on Vancouver Island. So we met up with our friends Darryn & Dayna from VictoriaExplorer.com at Bin 4 to see what all the fuss was about.
Bin 4’s drink specials change frequently and on this occasion, I really enjoyed the refreshing Lychee Lemonade with Absolut Vodka, lychee syrup, freshly sliced strawberries, and house made lemonade.
A complimentary dish of House Spiced Potato Chips was presented to us an appetizer. These crunchy bites were fried in house, lightly spiced, and extra crispy.
All of Bin 4’s gourmet burgers are served with a choice of Irene’s Bakery Brioche Bun, Butter Lettuce Stack for those wanting a low-carb option, or you can substitute Origin Bakery Gluten Free Bun for $1.50 extra. The burgers are accompanied by a choice of one side dish, either Spiced Potato Chips, Bin 4 House Salad, or House Cut French Fries. Alternatively, you can substitute Onion Rings, Almond Praline & Blue Cheese Salad or Caesar Salad for an extra dollar-fifty.
We all opted for the fries, which were Kennebec potatoes, double fried to the perfect texture. We each ordered one of the restaurant’s made-from-scratch sauces (sixty cents extra) to dip our fries into. The sweet ‘n tangy Bin 4 ketchup, fragrant basil aioli, and decadent truffle aioli were our favourites.
Minted Lamb ($15) – Peace Country lamb, eggplant & tomato relish, Ermite blue cheese, mint pistou, roasted garlic aioli, butter lettuce, and sliced red onion.
The Bison Burger ($14) – Peace River Bison, five year aged cheddar, crispy fried onions, house made lime and tomatillo hot sauce, jalapeno aioli, lettuce, and tomato.
Bacon Parmigiano ($13) – Island Farmhouse chicken breast, Fraser Valley back bacon, seared tomato, fresh basil, parmigiano, bacon aioli, butter lettuce, and red onion.
Wild Mushroom ($13) – Heritage Angus beef, wild mushroom, garlic cream, truffle oil, parmigiano, truffle aioli. baby arugula, and tomato. The peppery bit of the arugula was an excellent contrast to the richness of this burger. Its patty was minimally seasoned, letting the burger’s indulgent toppings shine.
Bin 4 Burger Lounge‘s unique menu not only highlights their locally sourced gourmet burgers, but also a variety of health conscious alternatives such as artisan salads, and an appetizer menu that you’ll want to enjoy over cocktails with friends. FYI: 50% off all burger entrees with drink purchase, every evening after 9pm.
