Verace Pizzeria – VANEATS.ca ‘VERACE AMORE’ Dining Package [PREVIEW]

The wonderful team at VANEATS.ca invited us to sample their latest dining package called VERACE AMORE from Verace Pizzeria Napoletana & Enoteca. With inspiration stemming from a passion for authentic fire-roasted pizzas found throughout Italy, this lovely pizzeria is conveniently located on Keefer Place, in the same complex as T & T market in downtown Vancouver.

Verace offers a fresh new approach to modern Italian cuisine by combining sleek interiors, a sophisticated but comfortable atmosphere, and a menu offering unique antipasti and gourmet pizzas. Verace is the perfect spot for any dining occasion, it appeals to a variety of guests seeking a casual, hip and upbeat venue with deliciously affordable fare. A long communal table in the lounge area invites diners to enjoy a warm plate, a glass of wine and each other’s company.

This tantalizing 4-course dining package is more than enough for one person to enjoy for dinner, or a light meal for two people to share. VERACE AMORE contains:

  1. Salati Assortiti
  2. Burrata
  3. 8-inch Brick Oven Baked Pizza
  4. Lemoncello Layer Cake

The first course is an antipasto platter, Salati Assortiti, consisting of a plate of select cured meats and cheeses drizzled with evoo and balsamic vinegar, vegetables, and a selection of lemon and herb marinated mixed olives, and accompanied by warm rosemary pizza bread. We loved the smoked gouda and prosciutto and enjoyed that the olives were served warm, which heightened their flavours.

The second course consists of Burrata cheese finished with balsamic reduction and lemon oil and served with warm rosemary pizza bread. Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream and served at room temperature. Burrata means “buttered” in Italian and that’s exactly the consistency of this exquisite soft-textured cheese – smooth and creamy like butter! We loved this dish! Our server also brought us garlic and chili infused olive oils to try with our bread, and they were both aromatic and bursting with flavour.

The main course of this fantastic set menu is an 8-inch Brick Oven Baked Pizza created with 100% handmade with naturally leavened dough, making for a lovely chewy crust. In Naples the true test of a well made pizza is whether it can be folded in half and then folded again into quarters without breaking or cracking the crust. Try it! This pizza is a great way to taste two tasty varieties at once because half of the pizza is Prosciutto e Rucola – plum tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella topped with prosciutto, fresh arugula, grana padano and extra virgin olive oil. And the other half is Funghi – mushroom cream, cipollini balsamic onions, mixed crimini, portabella, oyster mushrooms, and topped with fresh oregano, grana padano and extra virgin olive oil. We adored the scrumptious contrast between the peppery arugula greens and sweet caramelized onions–two excellent pizzas in one.

Last but not least is the star dessert of the evening – the Lemoncello Layer Cake consists of limoncello infused lady fingers layered with lemon curd, mascarpone cream, topped with fresh raspberries and lightly dusted with confectioners’ sugar. A superb conclusion to a very tasty and satisfying meal.

Still and sparkling filtered water served in stylish glass bottles are served complementary at Verace, but we also ordered delicious Raspberry and Orange Italian Sodas ($2.75 each). Our server explained that the VERACE AMORE dining package would not be an adequate dinner for two people and suggested that we order a supplementary dish. So we chose another one of Verace’s pizzas which are twelve inches round and are handmade using fresh ingredients, naturally leavened dough and brick oven baked. The restaurant offers two types of pizzas, or “Pizze”: Bianca, or White pizza consisting of toppings with grana padano cheese and extra virgin olive oil, but no tomato sauce, and Pomodoro which does consist of tomato sauce. We ordered the Diavola ($16.75) – Fresh crushed plum tomato sauce, spicy genoa salami, capicollo roasted red onions and peppers topped with grana padano, fresh basil and extra virgin olive oil. Deliciously filling and packed with lots of meat, we ended up taking half of this pizza home because we actually were full from the VERACE AMORE dining package!

Service was meticulous at Verace. The only thing was there seemed to be a slight issue with the kitchen, as the table of 6 beside us who arrived half and hour after us, received their pizzas before us. This didn’t effect us much since Verace is not the kind of place you want to rush–it’s a restaurant to relish in the experience of Italian dining and “la dolce vita”!

We highly recommend this VANEATS.ca dining package because it gives you premium value for your money. Purchase your VERACE AMORE pass between February 22 through April 22, 2012, for a very reasonable price of $15.00!
