Antonio’s Pizzeria Restaurant Review (Brooklyn, NY)

During our visit to Brooklyn, our tour-operator stopped at Antonio’s Pizzeria because he claimed it was the best pizza in New York. It was a sweltering hot day so we were all grateful to grab a bite and beverage on the tour.

Located on Flatbush Avenue, in the Prospect Heights area of Brooklyn, Antonio’s Pizzeria is a popular spot in the city for traditional New York-style pizza. Known for its large, wide, thin and foldable shape, authentic NY pizza is traditionally hand-tossed. Its slices are often eaten as a ‘street snack’ while folded in half, as its size and flexibility sometimes makes it unwieldy to eat flat. Plain cheese pizza is the traditional New York-style. Simple ingredients, yet very satisfying, its only two toppings are tomato sauce (light on the sauce) and mozzarella cheese.

A large selection of whole pizzas (from $12.00 to $25.00) and pizza-by-the-slice (from $2.75 to $3.75) were available. Some of their most popular toppings were Cheese (of course!), Spicy Chicken, Buffalo Chicken, and Sicilian with Fresh Mozzarella.
We enjoyed pizza-by-the-slice ($3.50) that included fresh basil, tomato and mozzarella, and we also ordered a Snapple Lemon Tea ($1.75) – because it was founded in New York’s Greenwich Village! The pizza was incredibly fresh, and included quality cheese, a thin, crisp and very flavorful crust.

Antonio’s Pizzeria is an excellent pizza shop in New York, and a definite must-try during your Brooklyn visit!
