West Vancouver’s Fraîche Restaurant Review

Renowned as one of West Vancouver’s most cherished dining experiences, Fraîche Restaurant offers cuisine that celebrates the best of the west coast, expertly crafted in its elegant open kitchen. Gracious service and inspiring panoramic views of Vancouver from its hilltop dining room enhance the gorgeous restaurant. Fraîche recently received Gold for Best North Shore Dining in the 20th Annual Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and was additionally named one of Canada’s Top Ten Best New Restaurants of ’08 by enRoute magazine. Ladies and gentlemen, Fraîche is one of the best of the best!

Chef Jefferson Alvarez (of Divino fame) recently took over the absence left by previous Chef Dino Renaerts. Our post highlights our experience during Renaerts’ time as we visited Fraîche prior to the Alvarez takeover. Understandably, the following photos of dishes and offerings will be differ from current menu items.

First class service was demonstrated by all employees – from host to bartender to bussers and food runners and of course our exceptional server. Gracious service wasn’t the only shining element of this restaurant – its food was perfectly showcased. Everything from handcrafted sorbettos to sweet crab salad to tremendous cocktails, each item (apart from my slightly undercooked/overly al dente risotto) was executed with precision and care. Overall, our entire evening was exquisite and we will surely return to indulge in Jefferson Alvarez’s offerings. Have you visited Fraîche since Chef Alvarez took over? How does it compare to Renaerts’ style and execution?

You cannot top this glorious view…
