Soon, Vancouver will no longer be a city that has two Starbucks coffee shops across the street from each other. Noooooo!
One of the Lower Mainland’s – and Canada’s — original Starbucks coffee houses is shutting its doors for good. After 24 years of serving countless cups o’ joe, one of the dueling Starbucks outlets on Robson & Thurlow in downtown Vancouver will close on May 28th. But why? The closure is due to an upcoming rent increase and demolition clause which has turned off the powerful company.
Not to fret, thirsty customers can obtain their caffeine fix at over 200 other Starbucks locations in Vancouver. And of course, there is still one right across the street — the Starbucks that has occupied the northeast corner for 23 years will remain.
