We first visited Jam Cafe (seen here) last spring after hearing loads of hype surrounding the all-day breakfast joint. And let me tell you, it certainly lived up to all the hoopla. Delicious dishes containing quality ingredients combined with friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere are what impressed us most and made us return.
Tempting specials are showcased on their large chalkboard (daily menu updates are also provided on their website and Facebook). What initially caught my eye was their Strawberry Shortcake French Toast special of the day. Since I thoroughly enjoyed their biscuit from our previous visit, I knew I had to order this sweet treat. It consisted of a fluffy buttermilk biscuit made in house, dipped in a luscious egg batter, topped with vanilla whipped cream, red sprinkles, powdered sugar, and freshly cut strawberry slices. It was a breakfast that ate like a dessert and I adored it!
Off Jam Cafe’s all-day breakfast menu, Huevos Rancheros included tortillas topped with tomatillo salsa, basted eggs, smoked chorizo sausage, black beans, jalapeno sour cream, guacamole and corn cakes. A hearty stick-to-your ribs type of meal with Mexican flair, this dish was bursting with flavors.
Served after 11am, Buttermilk Fried Chicken is a Southern style dish on their lunch menu that was accompanied by a uniquely sweet ‘n’ spicy honey Tobasco dipping sauce, and two side dishes – creamy coleslaw and their famous house made corn bread. Crispy exterior with plump and juicy meat, this fried chicken dish was a definite winner.
We all ordered cups of their freshly brewed bottomless JJ Bean coffee to wash down our delicious brunch. Jam Cafe has become our favorite brunch joint in Victoria. But don’t just take our word for it – check it out for yourself!
