Ultimate Burger Review – Hawaii’s Best Burger Restaurant

Located in the same complex, Kona Commons, as Panda Express and Taco Del Mar, Ultimate Burger is a welcomed departure from the typical American chain restaurants in Kona, Hawaii. Ultimate Burger–Hawaii’s Best Burger Restaurant–is a local hamburger joint serving fresh, Hawaii-grown ingredients.

Executive Chef, Windy Gerardi, created Ultimate Burger’s simple menu that is made from scratch daily using the finest local Big Island ingredients (organic whenever possible) from Hawaiian farmers and ranchers. Their beef is antibiotic and hormone free, from 100% grass fed, free range cattle raised right on the Big Island of Hawaii. Therefore, your stomach and conscience will both feel good supporting this restaurant!

Ultimate Hamburger ($6.45) – 1/3 lb. local, freshly ground, charbroiled, grass fed beef patty, local organic hand torn green leaf lettuce, large crisp Clauseen pickle slices, paper-thin sliced onion, perfectly ripe local tomato slice, house made Ultimate Sauce, on a daily baked, toasted, brioche bun. The buns are incredible – soft and pillowy with a hint of sweetness.

Ultimate Cheeseburger ($7.45) – Identical to the Ultimate Burger except there’s a choice of three different cheeses: Tillamook Cheddar, Grueye Swiss, or Gorgonzola. I added local hand picked, perfectly ripe slices of avocado ($0.99) and ordered my beef patty cooked well done, but when I bit into my burger, the middle was still very pink. Thankfully, they offered to make me a new one asap, and it was cooked perfectly.

Ultimate Fries ($3.25) - Daily house cut “Big Daddy” fries cooked in high oleic, linolenic canola oil (non hydrogenated, low in saturated fat, zero trans fats, a good source of monounsaturated fat and contains Omega 3 fatty acids) – “the healthiest oil money can buy”. Seasoned with organic, finely chopped, local fresh thyme, parsley and kosher salt, and served with house made creamy aioli sauce. These amazingly delicious crispy fries were some of the best ‘gourmet’ French fries we’ve ever had. They were teeming with flavor and the aioli dip really took this dish to the next level!

Overall, Ultimate Burger truly is the ultimate hamburger joint to enjoy high-end, cooked-to-order burgers made from local, organic Big Island of Hawaii ingredients – check it out!
