Locus is a really popular brunch spot on the weekends in the thriving Main Street neighborhood of Vancouver. I’m actually rather surprised that we haven’t been here previously, given my love for brunch.
Not only a favorite for breakfast and lunch crowds, the restaurant is also a hip late night eatery & bar serving up ever changing daily features past midnight on Friday & Saturday evenings.
Hot Chocolate ($4.00) organic cocoa with whipped cream and a Pocky stick. In lieu of regular drip coffee, they only serve Americanos ($3.00) – no complaints from us!
We did have to wait a while for our food orders to arrive, however the bread tided us over while we enjoyed our beverages. You can really tell a lot about a restaurant by the quality of bread they serve (if any) prior to the meal. Locus’ complimentary bread basket was fantastic: hearty and freshly baked. Not only did they provide fresh bread, but they also offered not one but two delicious choices of whipped butter: cinnamon & sugar butter on the left, and roasted red pepper on the right.
Seafood Benny ($13.00) poached eggs on crab and shrimp cakes, resting on an English muffin, drizzled with hollandaise sauce, and served with rosemary nugget potatoes. The potatoes were fantastic and well seasoned, the benny was deliciously rich, and the eggs were cooked to perfection.
Organic Beef Burger ($12.00) – caramelized onions, Edam cheese, green leaf lettuce, tomato slice, shaved red onion, roasted garlic mayo, pickle wedge, served on a whole wheat kaiser bun, with a small salad and rosemary nugget potatoes. Although the whole dish was a generous portion, the actual size of the burger patty was relatively small. Nevertheless, it was a tasty and satisfying meal.
Overall, the restaurant offers great food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere. Check out the Locus!
