Since the late 70s there has been a popular family restaurant operating at the junction of Keating X Road and West Saanich Road in Central Saanich. Serving comfort food to hungry residents of Brentwood Bay, you might remember this establishment when it was called The Porter House, then later transformed into a Smitty’s Family Restaurant. Last year the restaurant changed its name to Sassy’s, honoring the owner’s young granddaughter, Sapphira, who passed away.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Sassy’s Family Restaurant offers a variety of menu items to please all tastes and appetites. Here are a few of the dishes we tried for brunch:
Classic Eggs Benedict ($12) – Canadian back bacon, poached eggs and house-made Hollandaise sauce on top of an English Muffin.
This was a special of the day consisting of a buttermilk waffle topped with strawberries in a cream cheese sauce and side bacon.
Better-Than-60 Eggs Benedict ($10) – A single egg version of Sassy’s Traditional, Blackstone, or Salish Sea Eggs Benedict. Served with grilled potatoes and fresh seasonal fruit.
Better-Than-60 Breakfast ($7.25) – One island raised egg cooked any style, two slices of bacon or pork sausage, and a choice of two Breakfast Sides (buttermilk pancakes and hashbrowns).
