Jamba Juice Review (Kona, Hawaii)

We frequented Jamba Juice at the Kona Coast Shopping Center practically every day of our trip to the Big Island of Hawaii. It was a quick breakfast stop and refreshing cool-down in the hot Hawaiian sun. Let’s face it, Kona isn’t really a foodie kinda place, and restaurants that were highly rated, like the disastrous Island Lava Java, severely failed in our books. Sometimes, it’s just best to stick to the chains, and a smoothie chain we love is Jamba Juice. Do we adore JJ because we don’t have one in Vancouver? Or is it their incredibly smooth real fruit blended beverages with a choice of a complimentary “boost”? Not sure, but Jamba Juice is certainly addictive.

Unfortunately, consistency is lacking at this Jamba Juice location. One time they only filled our cup up three quarters of the way – what a rip!

On another visit, Jamba Juice was out of strawberries, peaches, bananas, mangoes, and blueberries – so what else is left?! Along with smoothies, we also ordered wraps and pizza on one occasion:

Spinach n’ Cheese Breakfast Wrap – A healthy combination, free of artificial flavors and preservatives, of scrambled eggs, Swiss cheese and steamed spinach wrapped in a whole wheat flour tortilla. Considering this was a hot food item from a smoothie joint, the wrap was actually quite satisfying – probably because I was starving.

California Flatbread: Their bread may be flat, but the taste is bold, featuring a savory medley of toppings on a crispy crust. Available in three flavors: Four Cheesy, MediterraneYUM, and the one we tried, Smokehouse Chicken – Baked on a thin pizza crust topped with a corn and black bean blend containing poblano chilies, red bell peppers, and extra virgin olive oil, roasted chicken breast pieces, barbecue sauce, and sprinkled with mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Served piping hot, this simple pizza was a quick and convenient meal.

Generally, this Jamba Juice makes great smoothies – just make sure they’re actually stocked with fruit and fill your cup up properly! If you’re hungry for a bite to eat, sure grab some of their pizzas or wraps, but only if you’re starving.
