We were doing some shopping at CB2 on Robson one afternoon in the summer and needed to refuel. Since it was such a hot and sunny day, what would be more refreshing than ice noodles? So we popped into Jang Mo Jib for a couple bowls of cooling mul naengmyeon or “Mool Naeng Myun” as it’s listed on their menu.
The dish ($9.95) includes buckwheat noodles served chilled in a bowl of clear beef broth with thin slices of beef, Asian pear, daikon radish, julienned cucumber and half a hard boiled egg. Vinegar and mustard are served on the side so you can add as much as you like to taste. And of course our meals were accompanied by unlimited Korean side dishes such as kimchi, sweet glazed potatoes and sesame bean sprouts. The overall verdict? Excellent! Just as tasty and refreshing as what we enjoyed in Seoul.
