The Kamei Group of Japanese establishments operates six restaurants around the lower mainland, including Ebisu on Robson. This stylish izakaya is situated on the corner of Robson St. & Bute, in downtown Vancouver. Located on the second floor, you’ll easily find stairs to its entrance just off the sidewalk on Bute Street.
This contemporary restaurant & lounge features some of the best deals for food & drinks in town: Tasty tapas, inventive sushi created by master chefs straight from Japan, creative cocktails and traditional drink favourites ($6.50 Singapore Sling – a lot less than the price of the Raffles Hotel invented original), and ‘happy hour’ food deals (99 cent oysters and 39 cent wings).
With a modern design and spacious interior, including high ceilings, two large patios, multiple big-screens and a huge projection TV, Ebisu makes for a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere to grab some bevs ‘n’ bites and watch the game with your friends.
We were invited by the fantastic folks at VanEats.ca to preview their Cheers Ebisu pass – an exclusive, one-time-only dining package that you’re going to want to get your hands on as soon as it launches. Cheers Ebisu was created with happy hour in mind – the idea that you should be able to enjoy happy hour at anytime you wish! The plentiful package includes six Japanese pub food-type tapas and a pitcher of imported beer, all to share with your friends later in the evening, or enjoy with your colleagues after a long day at work. Here’s a sneak-peak as to what exactly Cheers Ebisu will include:
- Chikuwa Cheese – fried fish cake stuffed with melted mozzarella cheese
- Cajun Tuna Tacos – seared fresh tuna & shredded mixed salad dressed with their tantalizing house ginger sauce
- Tiger Mayo – tempura black tiger prawns complete with their chef sweet chili mayonnaise dip
- Kansai Steak Sliders – sauteed sliced beef marinated in yakiniku sauce sandwiched with avocado, onions, mushrooms & mayo
- Chicken Karaage – deep fried boneless chicken
- Thunder Fries – fresh house-cut fried sweet potato sticks served with Ebisu’s popular house cajun dip
- Premium Sapporo Draft Beer – 1 pitcher
With a great variety of both seafood and meat items, well sized portions and a pitcher of beer, this package is an excellent deal. We especially enjoyed the delectable tuna tacos (tuna and avocado are always a welcomed pairing) and lightly-battered sweet potato sticks. Tiger prawns were cooked perfectly and exuded a distinctive crunch, while fish cakes were very soft and far from the chewy and rubbery cakes found elsewhere. A generous serving of chicken karaage was well-seasoned, brought to the table piping hot and extra crispy – the way it should be. Scrumptious sliders were stuffed full of beef, so we felt this packaged definitely was not lacking in the protein department.
