Chipotle Mexican Grill in Vancouver Announces Dec. 13th Grand Opening

Chipotle Mexican Grill has officially announced its grand opening date for its first ever Vancouver store, set for December 13th. The company plans to bring its “Food with Integrity” Vision to Vancouver’s Robson Square, located at 818 Howe St. This is the first Vancouver, BC location, which means one less road trip to the US for Chipotle cravings.

The Vancouver location will be no different from other Chipotle restaurants, with locally sourced ingredients and naturally raised meats. All vegetables will be sourced from farms grown within 350 miles (560KM) of restaurants. As for the meats used for tacos, burritos and more, they will be just like their other restaurants:

“premium quality ingredients that include naturally raised meats (from humanely raised animals that are never given antibiotics or added hormones), local and organic produce, and dairy products from cows that are never treated with the synthetic hormone rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone) with increasing amounts of milk from pasture-raised dairy cattle for its cheese and sour cream.”

Chipotle’s “Food with Integrity” program “has led the company to serve more naturally raised meat and local produce than any other restaurant in the United States – more than 14 million pounds of produce in all for 2012.”

This is fantastic news for Vancouverites that demand and crave fresh, local ingredients.

“Chipotle is about fresh and sustainable ingredients, yielding a delicious, affordable, and high quality product,” said Chris Arnold, Chipotle spokesperson. “We are committed to continuing our expansion while raising awareness concerning food issues and creating a more sustainable and healthful food supply.”

Eating in Vancouver first exclusively told you the location of Vancouver’s first Chipotle Mexican Grill and opening date earlier this summer, which was slated for September 26th, then delayed to December 12th. Chipotle confirmed with us the December 13th opening date which is what we’re seeing today.
