La Rocca & “VIVA LA ROCCA” Dining Package Preview! have outdone themselves again! They’ve teamed up with one of the city’s longest running Italian restaurants La Rocca Ristorante Italiano to create the tantalizing VIVA LA ROCCA dining package! We were invited to preview VIVA LA ROCCA – which is’s fourth dining package collaboration – before it’s available for purchase on December 8th.

Located on Commercial Drive, near Graveley Street in the heart of Vancouver’s eclectic “The Drive”, this wonderful Italian dining lounge has been serving timeless Italian cuisine for an impressive twenty-five years. La Rocca’s cozy dining room has an architectural design that includes brick archways and warm decor bringing an old world Italian feel and romantic atmosphere. After you are greeted by a friendly server, you’ll be presented with delicious house-made focaccia bread, freshly baked each morning and served with aged balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil for dipping. We’d recommend ordering their house Pinot Grigio wine as it is a great accompaniment to this package.

The first course of VIVA LA ROCCA is the Prosciutto Marinato e Arancia – Italian ham marinated in herbs, with thinly sliced orange rounds and finely slivered garlic, delicately drizzled olive oil and balsamic vinegar, topped with capers and rosemary sprigs. This prosciutto is so tender that it melts in your mouth! The dish exudes an excellent balance of sweet, salty and savory flavours – with rosemary adding just the right amount earthiness.
The second featured dining package dish is the Fettuccine con Gamberi – Perfectly sauteed, crunchy tiger prawns and fresh fettuccine noodles in a light cream sauce, topped with Parmesan cheese and sprinkled with parsley. The noodles are cooked al dente with that little bite sensation that identifies real Italian style pasta. Smooth and rich, pasta lovers, like us, will adore this creamy dish.

Pollo Ripieno al Marsala, the third VIVA LA ROCCA plate for two – Chicken breast stuffed with sundried tomatoes and basil, in their famous sweet marsala wine sauce and sided with a lovely wedge of grilled radiccio rosso. You’ll marvel in the tangy flavours of the sundried tomatoes, paired exquisitely with succulent, moist and juicy chicken pieces.

Last but not least, the fourth course of the dining pass is the chef’s Homemade Tiramisu – Espresso drenched cake layers with a mouth watering mascarpone cream mousse, chocolate covered espresso beans, whip cream, and chocolate sauce. A heavenly decadent dessert and the appropriate end to a magnificent Italian meal!

This is one of our favourite packages, so far, because of its generous portion sizes and four delicious courses – making the diner more than enough food for two people to enjoy. One a side note, not included with the dining package, La Rocca’s outstanding chef served us his delectable Caesar salad that contained crisp romaine lettuce leaves drizzled with creamy dressing and topped with crunchy croutons, shaved parmigiano reggiano cheese, freshly ground black pepper and a lemon wedge. We really appreciated the drizzled Caesar salad dressing as opposed to a regular tossed Caesar which can somethings contain an overpowering amount of dressing. This effective method allows all of the salad’s individual flavours to standout. Buon appetito!
