White Spot has been an iconic brand in Vancouver and British Columbia since founder Nat Bailey started his business back in 1928 in this Model T Ford truck. Fast forward 83 years, and the classic chain is once again taking a page from its roots.
Triple O’s On The Go is the latest creation out of White Spot to jump into the local food truck scene. But it’s more than that-this is Canada’s first mobile restaurant and test kitchen by a quick service chain.
This Food Truck is one Impressive Mobile Kitchen
Eating in Vancouver was invited by White Spot for a sample of their food truck’s offerings, a good ol’ ‘Picnic in the Park-ing Lot’. The menu featured pulled-pork poutine as the appetizer, a BBQ bacon burger as the main, and lastly a couple samples of their milkshakes, Candied Orange Creamsicle and Peanut Butter Mocha. Let’s get onto how these items turned out, shall we?
Pulled Pork Poutine: This poutine had cheese curds from Quebec, potatoes reminiscent of White Spot, covered in gravy and delicious pulled pork. This was a pretty generous ‘appetizer’ portion so I barely finished mine, in preparation for the upcoming burger. I would say the fries could’ve been a bit more well done for my liking, but overall it was a solid poutine that tasted extremely satisfying.
Chipotle BBQ Bacon Burger: This burger was a regular Triple O’s burger with bacon, but it had BBQ sauce and what tasted like a chipotle mayo (like the one served with their yam fries at White Spot), shredded lettuce, tomato, and of course a pickle on the side. The bun was nicely toasted and the burger was put together perfectly. The patty was juicy, not dry and every bite was pretty awesome. I enjoyed this burger.
Candied Orange Creamsicle and Peanut ButterMocha Milkshake samplers: What took these milkshakes to the next level was the fact they have sourced a new supplier for high quality, real vanilla bean ice cream, which made these milkshakes ah-mazing. The ‘creamsicle’ flavour was pretty spot on compared to the days of eating the frozen treat. The peanut butter mocha milkshake was also tasty, but I found the combination of flavours made it a bit too sweet for my liking.
Triple O’s was really smart to jump on Vancouver’s mega popular food truck craze - with an impressive truck, delicious eats, and friendly White Spot service! You too can try tasty creations from Triple O’s On the Go on Aug 12-14 at the Abbotsford Airshow. See you there!
