On February 20th, I was invited to attend the Tasting Plates Vancouver Downtown event hosted by Richard Wolak (@vanfoodster). For those not familiar with the Tasting Plates series, attendees purchase a $35-45 ticket which grants them access to set event menus across 8-10 restaurants over a 3-4 hour time span. Unlike a traditional food tour, this event is self-led and affords far more autonomy in terms of where to go first, what to eat etc. This particular evening saw a remarkable turn-out of about 300 hungry patrons that eagerly made their way through the downtown core.
Highlights for the evening included a fantastic dessert tasting plate at Soirette Macarons & Tea and a deliciously thick and rich Miso Chowder at Le Tigre Food Truck. The photos below are menu captioned to give you an idea what a typical Tasting Plate event offers. If you are interested in attending the next Tasting Plates in April, definitely bookmark www.
