Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill – Fish And Chips

Shady Island Seafood Bar & Grill is located on the Fraser River in Steveston Landing, offering unique waterfront views all year round, and a great patio in the summer. The restaurant has been in operation for over twenty years and are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Shady Island’s fish and chips are known as “the best on the Boardwalk”, so I just had to order their 2-piece Cod & Chips to see if their claim really was true.

Coleslaw was fresh, fries were crispy, and the cod was surrounded by a medium-thickness batter, deep-fried to a golden brown. Best on the Boardwalk? Perhaps. Although I haven’t tried other Boardwalk selections, so I couldn’t really comment. I did feel that this fish and chips dish was significantly better than Go Fish Ocean Emporium (except the shack does offer stunning views of Vancouver), but I really enjoyed Finest at Sea. Have you been to Shady Island? Who do you think offers the best fish & chips on the lower mainland?

Pajo’s on the Steveston pier is pretty good. Haven’t been to Shady Island before. Think the best I’ve had was the halibut and chips one time at Dockside in Granville Island.  Been back a few times but it’s never as good as the first time you have it.
