I Sushi Japanese Restaurant Kitsilano Revisit

I Sushi is our neighbourhood sushi joint since it’s located on Arbutus Street and West 10th Avenue, just down the street from our condo. Now, we should mention right off the bat that I Sushi is not Japanese run nor operated, however, for what it is, it’s a pretty decent place.

We first reviewed i Sushi last year here and have been a few times since. The restaurant is always clean and tidy, service is pleasant and food is consistent. The portion sizes are always generous and their Edamame is generally quite fresh, however, I find they tend to add too much salt for my liking so I order it without.

Miso Soup is included with most lunch and dinner bento box orders at I Sushi. The broth is not overly salty and it has tender cubes of soft tofu, bright green seaweed and freshly chopped green onions.

California Roll with black sesame seeds on its exterior, containing ripe avocado and plenty of imitation crab meat. The rice was nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly.

Bento Box including beef teriyaki on a bed of steamed white rice with two pieces of salmon and two pieces of tuna sashimi, four spring rolls, green salad and a dynamite roll.

For a non-Japanese operated sushi restaurant in Kitsilano, I Sushi is pretty decent. Reasonable prices, fairly consistent food, and pleasant service make it a great lunch spot. We’d certainly recommend I Sushi over other places in the area such as Mazuya Sushi on Burrard. But if you’re looking for a step-up from I Sushi in Kits, then try Temaki Sushi (here and here) on West Broadway.
