Bella Gelateria is truly an authentic gelato & sorbetto shop located in the Fairmont Pacific Rim, in downtown Vancouver.
Canadian owner, James, attended the Italian Culinary Institute and then went on to obtain his advanced masters training at Carpigiani’s Gelato University. Therefore, he is incredibly passionate and highly experienced in the art of creating the perfect gelato!
I have to admit, Bella Gelateria is the best gelato I’ve tasted in Vancouver. It’s the real deal: Old-world, hand crafted, traditionally delicious gelato.
Conveniently located on the corner of West Cordova Street & Burrard, indoor and outdoor seating are available.
James doesn’t use any preservatives and always uses local and organic ingredients. (Except for nuts and lemons, which he imports from Italy). He embraces the 100-mile diet philosophy, so ingredients are sourced within one hundred miles of his shop, and seasonal to insure the highest quality. Also, his gelato is hand made fresh daily, so flavors change constantly.
His machines are state of the art and top of the line: He (along with Wolfgang Puck) are the first in North America to employ commercial gelato equipment, used in Italy. All gelato and sorbetto are covered with metal lids – they keep the product rich, creamy and fresh by limiting the amount of air they are exposed to.
Bella Gelateria offers 3 sizes of gelato: Small ($4.95), Medium ($5.95) and Large ($6.95). We ordered the Dolce de Leche (a creamy caramel flavor) and Nocciola (hazelnut yumminess). Only Avalon organic whole milk is used in their gelato, which I believe makes all the difference to its taste.
If you love gelato (who doesn’t?!), then run to Bella Gelateria now.
