Sun Wah is an authentic Chinese restaurant located on the corner of Cook Street and Pandora Avenue in Victoria. We’ve been dining at Sun Wah (and its sister restaurant Mee Wah in Oak Bay) for years because they both cook up tasty Cantonese dishes.
Sun Wah is a definite step up from other comparable Chinese restaurants in Victoria (Ho Tong for example) in terms of quality and authenticity. The menu is extensive with plenty of traditional dishes alongside items geared towards Western tastes like set lunch combos and savory favorites such as “lemon chicken”.
On our most recent visit, we ordered prawn & snow pea stirfry, greens, lettuce wraps, and sweet ‘n’ sour pork (Gary’s favorite). The restaurant generally doesn’t use too much oil in its cooking and is quite accommodating to customers — if there’s a Cantonese dish you’re craving that’s not on the menu, then there’s a good chance they’ll whip it up for you. Sun Wah is one of your best bets for great Chinese cuisine in Victoria.
