The Roost Farm Centre is six establishments in one: It’s home to a bakery, café, pizza spot, garden market, winery, & gift shop! Located on the 10 acre Highland House Farm at the corner of McTavish & East Saanich Road, The Roost is one of the most popular places in North Saanich (near Sidney, BC on Vancouver Island).
Their always busy bakery/café serves up housemade breads, pies and other sweet treats, as well as farm fresh breakfasts, and hearty soups, sandwiches, salads, and quiches for lunch, and thin crust pizza from their wood-fired pizza oven for dinner. The Roost is one of the few places in Canada that grows and mills their own wheat on site for use in their pizza dough, bread and baked goods. The owner’s father grows berries and other produce, and raises chickens/eggs for use in the items that they sell at the Roost. Their motto is “you can’t get better than farm fresh!” No one would disagree with that statement.
The Roost always offers six kinds of coffee ($2.00), which you serve yourself, including organic and decaf varieties of Resciprocate coffee, and a full espresso bar ($2.00 – $4.50). A selection of daily baked cookies ($1.25), like a couple of white chocolate macadamia nut cookies which we thoroughly enjoyed. We’ve tried their soups and sandwiches on previous occasions and found them tasty and obviously fresh, and service has always been pleasant.
Heading to Sidney, on your way to the airport or ferries from Victoria, stop by the Roost for farm fresh fare!
