Giovane Café Review

by Taya on May 17th, 2010

The Fairmont Pacific Rim, located in downtown Vancouver is stunning.  Carrera marble floors, walls and pillars would normally look ostentatious, however the design is über calming, modern, and sophisticated. We would suggest definitely wandering the hotel when you come to eat!

Giovane Café is a chic cafe + bakery + deli located inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim, offering a great assortment of espresso, pastries, paninis, and pizza.  The cafe’s decor has clean lines and bright pops of yellow that really makes a person hungry! We sat at the long windows watching the busy professionals hurrying to their offices.

A small (8oz) decaf, low-fat, latte ($3) with a cherry white chocolate scone ($4), and a small Americano ($2.15). They serve 49th Parallel espresso with the distinct richness coffee lovers crave.

The scone was amazing! Even if you don’t like scones (I however, love them!),  this one impresses: Light, buttery soft inside with crispy, flaky sweetness on the outside crust. The slight tang of the cherries complemented well with the subtle taste of white chocolate throughout the heavenly scone.

Salmone Affumicato Pizza ($9) with smoked salmon, red onions, capers, dill, and lemon mascarpone.  The pizza tasted incredibly fresh, had sweet red onions and zesty capers. The mascarpone brought a creamier texture than a standard cream cheese would.

Our cashier actually came over to let us know our pizza would be ready really soon.  Friendly, helpful and attentive, the staff at Giovane really go the extra mile for their guests.

Yes, you do pay top dollar for the phenomenal food and exceptional service, but to me it was absolutely worth it!
