We’ve dined at Beacon and Eggs in lovely Sidney a few times for breakfast (seen here) and generally enjoyed our meals. Also, service has always been quite good. However, we haven’t had the best of luck when it comes to Beacon and Eggs’ sweet offerings.
Fancy Pants French Toast ($9.95) – Gooey cinnamon swirl French bread finished with handmade fried banana pecan syrup topped with their homemade granola and fresh whipped cream. Although it looked like a delicious dessert-for-breakfast type of concoction, this dish was sickeningly sweet. The French toast was soggy with syrup and honestly it was very difficult to eat. On the upside, the whipped cream was great! If you stick with bacon and eggs or something similar, you should enjoy your meal, but be cautious when opting for something sweeter. Here’s the rest of our dishes, which were all large portions of fairly decent breakfast fare…
Your Basic Two ($7.95) – Two eggs any style, two slice of bacon or sausage or ham, hash browns and multigrain, sourdough, or rye buttered toast.
The Crabby Benny ($13.95) – Crispy crab cakes in lieu of English muffins, topped with poached eggs, lemon dill hollandaise sauce and served with hashbrowns.
Everything Breakfast on a Plate ($12.95) – Two eggs, two sausages, two strips of bacon, two pancakes, served with hash browns and your choice of toast.
