Adrienne’s Tea Garden Review (Victoria, BC)

Mattix Farm has been a popular destination for tourists and Vancouver Island locals since the 80′s. Located in Saanich, about 15-20 minutes from the heart of downtown Victoria, BC, this shopping village includes a fresh produce Red Barn Market, ice cream parlor, garden centre, regional art gallery, BC wine shop, and two spacious 18-hole miniature golf courses located in a beautiful treed setting. Alternatively, if you’d prefer ‘real’ golf, Mattix Farm is located right next to the world class Cordova Bay Golf Course.

One of Mattix Farm’s busiest places is Adrienne’s Tea Garden. Surrounded by lush green ivy, this tea house is like a little secret garden. The varied country-style restaurant menu at Adrienne’s Tea Garden offers breakfast and lunch items like their renowned eggs benny, French toast, homemade soups, freshly prepared salad, seafood crepes, and of course high tea!

Their High Tea ($19.99, or $32.99 for two people) comes with finger sandwiches, savory items, assorted ‘dainties’, fresh seasonal fruit, a warm raisin scone with double devon cream & home made jam. We opted for some lunch items with friends that day because we didn’t have time to spend a leisurely afternoon sipping tea – although we’ll surely be back to try their high tea!

Philly Beef Sandwich($12.49) – Aged beef au jus topped with sweet peppers, red onion & cream cheese; stacked on garlic french bread & topped with melted cheddar cheese. All sandwiches at Adrienne’s Tea Garden come with a choice of Waldorf salad, potato salad, garden salad vegetables & dip, fruit garnish, cup of soup of the day. You can also substitute a cup of Seafood Chowder or Caesar Salad for an additional dollar. This dish was a generous portion, vegetables in the green salad were very fresh, and the Philly cheesesteak sandwich was deliciously filling.

Overall, Adrienne’s Tea Garden is a cute and petite, country-style restaurant. Prices are more on the ‘touristy’ side, but food was fresh and service was good. They also have lots of yummy baked goods, perfect for take-out after a round of mini-golf!
