This Harvey’s is actually located inside the Home Depot on Terminal Avenue in Vancouver. A cute and tiny fast food joint, it offers limited seating, so it’s best to order your burgers to go, like we did.
I’m convinced this is the first Harvey’s I’ve ever been to. Perhaps I had a Harvey’s burger when I was a kid? I don’t recall. Anyway, right off the bat, Harvey’s is different from other fast food joints. They have flame grilled burgers, and bowls of fresh cut veggies waiting to be carefully layered on your customized sandwich. Along with standard burgers and fries, they also have veggie burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, and onion rings (oooh yeah) on their menu.
We ordered some Poutine, a Grilled Chicken Sandwich, an Original Bacon Cheeseburger, and drinks. The cheeseburger was char-broiled to perfection on a flame grill, the only way a burger should be cooked. Both burgers had warm bistro buns, and we opted for all the toppings: pickles, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, relish, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and spicy hot banana peppers. My chicken burger was a real chicken breast, and cooked until still juicy. The poutine was actually really great (although a little salty), and we enjoyed it a lot more than La Belle Patate.
Overall, Harvey’s burgers taste more like “real food”, compared to say, a McDonald’s. Check it out the next time you’re craving fast food. It’s a beautiful thing!
