Driving home from our brunch at The Bakehouse in North Vancouver on Saturday, we noticed a large lineup of people outside of the BC Liquor Store on Alberni & Bute. Wondering what/who they were all waiting for, I noticed someone holding a Skinnygirl Margarita bottle. Must be waiting for Bethenny Frankel! So we popped into the store, and sure enough there’s Bethenny posing for photos with fans and signing books and bottles.
You might remember Bethenny from The Real Housewives of New York City, or her subsequent reality shows, but she’s also a renowned natural foods chef, three time New York Times Best Selling author (including cookbooks), and creator of the Skinnygirl Margarita (that she has since sold to a distributor for $120 million!). Let’s face it, she has become a mogul to be reckoned with.
What is Skinnygirl Margarita? A ready-to-serve “adult” beverage made with premium blue agave clear tequila and lightly sweetened with agave nectar. “Skinny” because it’s only 110 calories for a 4 oz serving. Just open and serve on the rocks. We were able to sample some during the launch – the drink packs a punch! If you’re not a fan of tequila, then stay far away from this drink. Personally, I enjoy tequila and appreciate how this beverage isn’t sickeningly sweet like other “girly” drinks. I think guys would definitely drink this margarita concoction – but only if they had not been shown the packaging, or told what they were drinking 😉
